Son of James and Jane LISTON of Napier Street, Maryborough, Vic.
His degree of B.Sc. was conferred after his death
A noble young life and a brilliant career were cut short when Lance-Corporal Robert. Bruce Liston was killed in action on April 11. The cable announcing his death was received on Saturday, by the Rev. C. J. T. Martin, who had the painful duty of breaking the news to the soldier's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Liston, of Napier street. The gallant young man, who was twenty-four years of age, was educated at Queen's College, Maryborough, from whence, on matriculating, he went to Melbourne High School, where he won a student-ship, entitling him to two years at the Melbourne University. From here he responded to the call of honor, and enlisted in the service of his country. Four months had elapsed without his parents receiving a letter from their son, and Mr. Liston first cabled to the boy, asking if all were well. Receiving no reply he cabled the military authorities, and it was in reply to this that the sad tidings were received.
