Father James Badgery.
Before the War
Austin William Badgery was born in Yass before his family later moved to Bombala. As a youth, he spent 3 years in the Senior Army Cadets, which provided him promising training for his later involvement in the war. After completing his schooling Austin became a bank clerk, a job he held until his enlistment.
After the War
Despite hi long service in the war, Austin remained relatively unscathed by his experiences. It is possible that his time as a cadet helped to better equip him to survive the war. It is not known whether Austin Austin returned to Australia after his completion at the Flying Corps Cadet School or if he remained based in England.
Austin married Helen Grace James in 1924 at Randwick, NSW. Austin passed away on 4th May 1964 at Strathfield, aged 67 years, and his wife passed away on 27th December 1993at Strathfield, aged 90 years.
