Thomas finds brother in France
My grandfather Thomas Holloway was born Anderson, but after his father's death and due to family hardship, he was adopted into the Holloway family. Tom enlisted using his birth name in the hope of finding his older brother James Anderson, who was already serving in the AIF. Tom had lost contact with James after the adoption. They eventually found each other in France. The following article was published in the Advocate newspaper on Friday 16th Aug 1918.
"TASMANIA: Mr. Thomas Holloway, Police Point, Huon, has been officially informed that his adopted son, Private (now Corporal) Thomas Anderson Holloway, has been awarded the Military Medal for conspicuous services rendered. Corporal Holloway's brother, who had since been wounded, was discovered by him doing his bit in France, and they had not met for many years."
