The following LINK (www.stevenclark.com.au) by Steven Clark outlines the military service of his Grandfather, from enlisting in the South Australian Imperial Reserves as a sailor on HMS Dart in 1910 in which he served for a period of 5 years. During this time he saw active service between 12 August 1914 to February 1915 in New Guinea. He then enlisted in the Australian Imperial Forces on 5 July 1915 to continue the fight against the Germans in France.
