Note- his father, Cpt. Archibald Edward Crichton (4th Qld Imp. Bushmen), and two of his older brothers, Lt. Archibald Frederick Crichton (2nd Qld Mounted Infantry), and Lt. Aubrey De Pree Crichton (4th & 6th Qld Imp. Bushmen) had served previously in the South African (Boer) War.
When Leslie Norman Crichton enlisted in 1915 for WW1 it was noted on his Attestation Paper, dated 11 Jun 1915, that he; was born at West End, Brisbane, and 23 years 6 months of age; he was single and a bank clerk; and his N.O.K. was his mother M. E. Crichton, West End, Brisbane. On his Application For A Commission, dated 14 Oct 1915, he noted his N.O.K. as his father A. E. Crichton, West End.
Leslie Norman Crichton was born on 6 Jan 1891 in Brisbane, a son to Archibald Edward Crichton and Mary Elizabeth Crichton (nee Blastock). He married Dorothy Kathleen Ross on 3 Sep 1925 at St. Peter's Church of England, West End, Brisbane, and he worked with the Queensland National Bank.
