Country Boy
Gilbert was born in U.K and one of six brothers and two sisters, their parents came to Australia in 1910 bringing six brothers to live in the country town of Inverell NSW. His father William fought in the Boar War. His five brothers also fought in WW1 with him and they were wounded many times, he was killed in action on 22 August 1918 in France.
I am his niece who never knew him, he was my fathers younger brother, but he will always be in our hearts lying asleep a long way from his homeland Australia.
His family never stopped loving him and only one brother returned to see his grave unfortunately. He has had neices visit and pay their respect and we wish one day somehow we would be able to bring him home
Lest We Forget.
