His brother 8486 Corporal Vincent John Wallace of the  6th Field Artillery Brigade AIF  died of wounds ON  3 August 1917.

His brother 31602 Driver Frank Curzon Wallace of the  1st Division Artillery Headquarters, returned to Australia on 6 September 1919.

George Galvin Wallace was born on 7th January 1890 in Naracoorte, South Australia, Australia. He was the son of Thomas Wallace and Louisa Curzons. He had three other siblings, sister Hilda Grace and brothers Vincent John Wallace and Frank Curzon Wallace, both of whom served during WW1. George was employed as a hairdresser before enlisting and was married to Hannah Kathleen Edwards.

On 9/2/15, at Keswick, South Australia, George enlisted for the Australian Imperial Forces (AIF) at the age of 25. His standing height was 5 feet 6 ½ inches with a weight of 153 lbs. George’s chest was measured at 34 ½ to 36 ½. His description on the paper stated that his complexion was dark, with blue eyes and brown hair. George had numerous scars on his body, especially on the lower third of his right thigh. In his attestation papers, he listed his mum, Louisa, as his next of kin. 

Wallace embarked on a ship named HMAT A30 BORDA on 23rd June 1915 from South Australia. He arrived in the Middle East and was attached to the 15th Field Artillery in Tel-el-Kabir. He was then transferred to the 14th Field Artillery Brigade at Ferry Post 25th April 1916. In June 1916 he proceeded to France and was transferred to the 14th Field Ambulance

During the Battle of Passchendaele, Wallace was wounded in action 21/7/1917. On 27 July 1917, he was transported and admitted to Birmingham Hospital for treatment. Then Wallace was transferred again on 21 August 1917, to the 1st Auxiliary Hospital. On 25 August 2017, Wallace was granted furlough for 2 weeks and marched in to the No 2 Command Depot 8th September 1917. In December he proceeded back to France and was taken on Strength with the 8th Field Ambulance and detached to the 4th Australian Infantry Battalion as Medical Detail.

George Galvin Wallace returned to Australia 17th March 1919 and disembarked in Adelaide 24th April. On 27/6/19, He was discharged 27th June 1919. Wallace enlisted again on the 1st of April 1942 for World War 2 at the age of 52.

George Galvin Wallace lived until the age of 89; he passed away on the 14th of October 1979.
