Biography contributed by Steven Roberts

Charles was engaged to be married to Emily Lillian 'Doll' Cheney of Maryborough.

On 23rd August 2015, 100 years after Charles died, Steven Roberts who is the great grandson of Charles' sister Irene, placed a knitted Poppy beside Charles' name on the memorial at Lone Pine, and a knitted wreath, poppies, and wattle hand crafted my members of the family, in the pavillion at Lone Pine, Gallipoli Turkey... Lest we Forget.
