Biography contributed by Lorraine McMahon
According to the Australian Red Cross Wounded and Missing data from the Australian War Memorial website, Pierce was killed at Lone Pine about 6th or 7th May. He came out of the trench about 6 pm and was looking for a dug out. He was shot through the neck and head by a sniper and killed instantly (Source: Eyewitness account by Corporal Barr on 20 March 1916).
