Son of Frederick Charles William Hack and Mary Elizabeth Hack nee Kewley of Galah Street, Blackall, QLD. Brother of Stanley Ernest Hack who returned to Australia on 23 June 1920 having served with the 9th Field Artillery Birgade, George Stewart Hack and Ivy Florence Hack

Commenced return to Australia on 18 December 1919 aboard HT Konigin Luise disembarking on 7 February 1920 at Sydney for onward travel to Brisbane
