6 Jun 1915: | Involvement AIF WW1, Private, 1945, 15th Infantry Battalion, ANZAC / Gallipoli, Private served with 15BN on Gallipoli under LTCOL James Canaan prior to being wounded (SW right arm) during the Battle of Sari Bair. Evacuation to Lemnos Island thence Alexandria for convalescence. | |
6 Aug 1915: | Wounded AIF WW1, Private, 1945, 15th Infantry Battalion, ANZAC / Gallipoli, During operations against the Sari Bair Range (Hill 971) Gallipoli. In the hours following the 4th Brigade’s night march north of Anzac Cove during 6-7 August 1915, Private Frederickson received a shrapnel wound (SW) to the right arm. He was evacuated to Lemnos Island and thence to Alexandria. The wound may well have saved his life. On 8 August 1915, the 15th Infantry Battalion was virtually destroyed in a frontal assault against Turkish positions in the foothills of the range. | |

1 Oct 1917: | Wounded AIF WW1, Sapper, 1956, 1st Divisional Signal Company, 2nd Passchendaele , SW chest: evacuation to UK via Bolougne France for convalescence. Dapper returned to unit in France on 26 May 1918. | |
22 Aug 1918: | Honoured Military Medal, The Battle of Amiens, From 22-26 August 1918: as a linesman Sapper Frederickson displayed a disregard for danger and untiring energy. Under heavy shellfire he maintained signalling wires from Brigade headquarters to the attacking Battalions. Sapper Frederickson set a splendid example to his comrades. | |
21 Mar 1919: | Embarked AIF WW1, Sapper, 1945, 1st Divisional Signal Company, RTA on board the transport Kildonan Castle: ex Union Castle lines. This vessel carried many Australian war brides from the UK including William Frederickson’s wife, Elizabeth (née Taylor). Enroute, the Kildonan Castle docked in Egypt where it took on board Charles Bean and other men of the recently completed Gallipoli Mission. Elizabeth and William settles on a sugar cane farm in Carmila Queensland. |
