4 Feb 1919:	Honoured Military Cross, 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During a night counter attack, it was largely due to this officer's energy that communication was rapidly established between battalion headquarters and the front line. Leading a small squad of linesmen through an area which was under very heavy fire, he established telephone communication shortly after midnight. The next night he volunteered to act as guide to some neighbouring troops, and led them under artillery fire to their jumping off line.
