Son of Arthur Nicholls VINES and Jane Christina VINES nee ALEXANDER, C/o Cobb & Co., Geelong, Victoria

Husband of Dorothy Alexander VINES

Trained in England and then proceeded to Frnace 05 August 1917. In August 1918 suffered from Collitis and admitted to hospital in Rouen.  Rejoined his unit in Havre 03 October 1918 and was again admitted to hospital sick only 23 days later.

He attended the British School of Motoring in Picadilly from 26 April 1919.

Returned to Australia per 'Euripides' from England 06 September 1919.
