29 Jun 1917: Honoured Military Medal, Mouquet Farm, During the attack on night 29th/30th August, 1916, Sergeant TURBBULL was in charge of a guiding patrol on the right flank of the Brigade attack. On reaching his first objective, he got into the trench and bombed the enemy out. Handing over the trench to a bombing section, he went on with his patrol, reached the second objective and gained entry by means of bombs. This N.C.O.'s work is much above the average. 4 Mar 1919: Honoured Military Cross, The Battle of Amiens, At Morcourt, 8th August 1918, for conspicuous gallantry during an advance. He led his platoon with great coolness under heavy fire. On reaching the final objective, he took a patrol well forward and brought valuable information as to the enemy dispositions. His conduct throughout set a splendid example to his men.
