Club Historian Gilberton Amateur Swimming Club Inc.
Hall was born in Orroroo on 19 May 1890. He was a 26 year old bank clerk from Walkerville, South Australia. His father was the bank manager at the Union Bank in King William Street and lived in on-site accommodation. Hall was a member of the Adelaide Rowing Club when he enlisted into the 32nd battalion at Mitcham.
His paperwork showed that he was examined in Perth Western Australia on 14 April 1916 but presumably he was declared unfit as he enlisted at Mitcham on 14 June 1916. Hall was promoted to Corporal while in Adelaide and embarked for England on 23 June 1917, arriving at Hurcott on 25 August 1917. He reverted to Private on arrival. Hall embarked for France on 18 February and sent into the Field on 24 December 1917. He was promoted to Lance Corporal on 14 March 1917 and sent to NCO School three days later. Hall was transferred to the 43 rd Battalion and joined his unit on 23 March. Sadly he was killed in action 5 days later.
