Biography

Born on 3 October 1896, unlike his name suggests, Leopold Von Bertouch was not of German descent, but rather was of Danish descent. The son of Mr Rudolph Paul Von Bertouch and Mrs Annie Emmie Von Bertouch (nee Vaughan,) he was also the nephew of the South Australian Premier the Honourary Crawford Vaughan (adb.anu.edu.au) (Premier April 1915 to July 1917) and the South Australian Attorney General the Honourary John Howard Vaughan (/explore/people/160927) (Attorney General April 1915 to July 1917.)
