Walter Clifford Germein was awarded a Life Membership of the RSL.  He served the Barmera sub branch as president from 1928 to 1937.  He was chairman of the Barmera sub committee for the Land Settlement issues arising for the returned service men or if a lease was threaten with cancellation.  OC Barmera section Volunteer Defence Core from inception until tranferd to 4th Garrison Battalion. commanded Barmera Platioon of garrison Battalion Fort Largs.
