Biography contributed by Evan Evans
From Australian Remembrance Army is at Toowong Cemetery.
This is one of many WWI civilian granite headstone restorations we completed prior to the establishment of this page. We have often wondered if this WWI veteran is an ancestor of the television presenter Leigh Sales. Maybe a genealogy ‘super sleuth’ can help solve this mystery.
Gnr Herbert Sales has a civilian headstone memorial and not an official military headstone memorial, however, this is no excuse for the headstone of Pte Sales not to be in perfect condition.
In August 2020, we voluntarily restored the civilian granite headstone memorial of Gnr Herbert Sales and his wife May on behalf of the Friends of Toowong Cemetery with permission from Brisbane City Council.
