Brother of Walter Crask Overson who returned to Australia on 20 July 1919 having served with the 2nd Pioneer Battalion; Arthur Overson who returned to Australia on 7 September 1919 having served with the 2nd Pioneer Battalion; Ernest Overson who returnd to Australia on 21 May 1919 having served with the 4th Pioneer Battalion

Commenced return to Australia on 28 Novermber 1918 aboard HT Zealandia disembarking on 7 January 1919
