Biography

"THE LATE PRIVATE J. J. BROWNE.

Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Browne, of Narracoorte, have received word that their eldest son, Private John J. Browne, died of wounds received in action in France. He enlisted early in February, 1916, and sailed in June for England, where he finished his training, and left for France about September 12. He was a member of the Narracoorte Rifle Club, where he proved himself a good marksman. He also has a brother, Private R.D. Browne, at the front. Private J. J. Browne was 29 years of age." - from the Adelaide Chronicle 26 May 1917 (nla.gov.au)
