Private John Carrington killed by shell fire morning of 23 August 1918

Lieutenant Keshan, Privates Mackie, Doyle, Tanswell and John Carrington were killed by an artillery barrage on the morning of 23 August 1918.

The 3rd Battalion war diary noted that all but 4 members of Lieutenant Keshan’s Platoon we’re killed or wounded when they stepped off for the attack.

All 5 members were buried side by side at Heath Cemetery after the War
