Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

Son of Dora Alice and the late John McLaren, of William St., Port Fairy, Victoria, Australia.

A LOVING SON & KIND BROTHER

Another Port Fairy Hero
L-Cpl. A. H. McLAREN.
Today, the Rev. F. S. Yarnall conveyed the sad intelligence to Mrs McLaren, William street, that Lance Corporal A. H. McLaren, her second eldest son, had been killed in action in France on July 30 last. The brave soldier, who was a carpenter and learnt his trade here, was 31 years of age, and was working at Caniperdown when he enlisted, about 2 1/2 years  ago.
He was injured in battle and went back into action. To his heart-broken mother, brothers and sisters is extended the sympathy of the people of the borough, with the consolation  that they owned one who died in a glorious cause. The hero was a single man and his fiancee resides in Camperdown. Flags were flown here as a small tribute of respect to the  soldier.

McLAREN.- A tribute to the memory of my dearly loved fiance, Lance-Cpl. A. H. McLaren, killed in action, 30th July, 1918.
Though we are parted,
Love lives for ever.
—(Inserted by his sorrowing fiancee, Lily Parker.)
