Arrived in Australia aged 19 years
Next of kin given as his brother Max Clifton of Newbury, Berkshire, England. In 1917 Max was living in Melbourne

He had previously served in the Oxford Yeomanry, Oxfordshire, England for 2 years and was a member of the Eumundi Rifle Club, QLD
