On enlisting Ralph was 30yrs 4mths old; 5' 6.5" tall; fair complexion; grey eyes; fair hair; methodist;  married with 2 children; lived at 40 Bagot Avenue, Torrensville, SA.

2/8/1915      enlisted at Keswick

2/12/1915     embarked from Port Adelaide onboard RMS Malwa
                    Private in 12th Infantry Battalion

5/6/1916       proceeded to join British Expeditionary Forces (BEF), ex Alexandria
12/6/1916     disembarked Marseilles, France

13/4/1917     embarked onboard HS Warilda at Havre, France for England
14/4/1917     admitted to Kitchener Military Hospital

26/7/1917     proceeded overseas to France

21/10/1917   transferred to Australian Base office, London

3/4/1918       taken on strength into 52nd Battalion, France

24/4/1918     wounded in action, France (gun shot wound to left leg)
