George Reginald Vivian FOOTE, (Service Number 1944) was born on 13 July 1897 in London. He had begun working with the NSW Railways as a shop boy in the Electrical Branch of the Tramways at Randwick in late 1914, but only two months later was released from duty to join the Expeditionary Forces. On his enlistment papers, of 22 January 1915 he gives his age as 19 years 6 months, but this was incorrect as he was only 17. He also claimed a year and six months previous experience in the 39th Militia and gave his calling as a commercial artist.
He left Sydney on 13 April 1915 on HMAT ‘Kyarra’.

He died of wounds received in action at Gallipoli on 17th December 1915 and was buried in Shell Green Cemetery at Anzac. Foote was one of the last to die at Gallipoli as the peninsula was evacuated between the 15th and the 20th of that month.
