Pte. J. G. Pill Killed in Action.
Mr. Gordon Pill received a cable message from the military authorities, through the Rev. W. M. Gorden, on Monday stating that his brother, Pte. J. G. Pill, had died of, wounds on October 25. This was the first intimation that Mr. Pill had received concerning his brother having been wounded. The late Pte, J. G. Pill was the third son of the late Mr. W. Pill, who was railway station master at Narracoorte, and was well known here. He had been about three years in the employ of the Railway Department previous to enlisting, being connected with the Loco. branch of the service. He was stationed at Pinnaroo, St. Leonard's, and later at Quorn, from where he enlisted at the beginning of March, 1916. He sailed for England on July 13 of the same year, arriving there about the 5th of September. He had been on active service in France for some time. The late Pte. Pill was 25 years of age. Two of his brothers reside in Narracoorte, being in the employ of the Loco. Department of the railway service. Much sympathy is felt for them in their sad loss.
