"...6329 Private Edgar Josiah Walter Slee, 16th Battalion. Farm labourer prior to enlisting on 8 March 1916, ...embarked from Fremantle with the 20th Reinforcements on board HMAT Suffolk (A23) on 13 October 1916... arrived in France on 29 December 1916. Pte Edgar Slee was captured at Riencourt, France, on 11 April 1917 and was interned as a prisoner of war at Limburg, Germany. He returned to Australia in 1919..." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)

He married Mabel Lucy KENWARD in Katanning, WA in 1922

His 2nd marriage was to Elsie May KENWARD in Katanning, WA in 1942

Edgar died in Albany, Western Australia on 18th January, 1975 and is buried in the Allambie Park Cemetery, WA

His brother Francis Charles Henry SLEE (SN 6330) also served during WW1 and died of wounds in France on 11th June, 1917

His son Allan Maxwell SLEE (SN W88040) served in the 6th Battalion of the Volunteer Defence Corps during WW2
