Died on this date – 13th April…… Private Ronald James Hind was born at Gawler, South Australia in 1897.

He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) on 15th January, 1915 as an 18 year old, single, Moulder from Gawler, South Australia.

Private Ronald James Hind, Service number 1720, embarked from Adelaide, South Australia on HMAT Port Lincoln (A17) on 1st April, 1915 with the 12th Infantry Battalion, 4th Reinforcements.

On 12th July, 1915 Private Ronald James Hind was taken on strength of 12th Battalion at Anzac/Gallipoli from Reinforcements.

He was admitted to No. 3 Field Ambulance Dressing Station at Anzac on 29th October, 1915 then transferred & admitted to No. 1 Australian Casualty Clearing Station at Anzac on the same day with Enteric. He was transferred to Hospital Ship Somali on 30th October, 1915 & embarked for Gibraltar. Private Hind was admitted to General Hospital, Gibraltar on 7th November, 1915 with Enteric – slight. He embarked from Hospital & Peace Convalescent Depot at Gibraltar to Hospital Ship Kinfauns Castle on 28th January, 1916 for England & was admitted to Military Hospital, Devonport, England on 1st February, 1916.

Base Records advised Mrs I. Hind on 9th April, 1916 that her son Private Ronald J. Hind was dangerously ill & had been admitted to 3rd London General Hospital on April 4th.

Private Ronald James Hind died at 12.30 pm on 13th April, 1916 at 3rd London General Hospital, Wandsworth, London, England from an Operation for Abscess on the Liver.

He was buried in Wandsworth (Earlsfield) Cemetery, London, England where 34 other WW1 Australian War Graves are located.
