Arthur Edward (Ted) Stevenson
Born in Bendigo in 1887, Ted lost his mother at the age of six. The family relocated to Albury/Wodonga and his father later died in 1913. He enlisted on 15 September 1914 and served as Private with D Company 14th Battalion AIF. Private Stevenson was killed in action at Gallipoli on 20 August 1915 in the last offensive. Investigations ensued when his brother received a letter from him dated 27 August 1915, a week later than his date of death. His date of death was subsequently confirmed leaving the letter awkwardly conflicting with official records.
