Son of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Burrowes, of Union Street, Stepney, was in the naval reserve 12 montsh before war was declared.  He was a gunner.  An all-round sportsman, he contested several boxing bouts. He was born at Maylands, and educated at Marist Brothers' College, Norwood. His father is an ex-naval man.  http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article131971445 (nla.gov.au)
