Ronald Henry Lobb was born on April 30, 1917 in Ethelton South Australia. Prior to enlisting he worked in the printing industry as a press operator or diesetter and lived at Finsbury Park, Woodville with his wife Alice.

 Lobb's military service began on August 6, 1940 when he enlisted as a Private in the Volunteer Defence Corps (SA) in Southwark, South Australia. He was involved with the Volunteer Defence Corps (SA) in Homeland Defence - Militia and non deployed forces until 14 March 1941. 

Lobb enlisted in the RAAF on May 12, 1943 as a Leading Aircraftman, and served as an Aircraftman 2 (WW2) stationed in Adelaide, South Australia. He served with the 24th Squadron overseas in New Guinea from 12 November 1943 until 6 April 1944. He was then transferred to Airfield Construction Squadrons. He served in Tarakan and Balikpapan from 22 January 1945 until 14 December 1945 with the No 5 Aircraft Construction Squadron.

Lobb passed away on July 8, 1979 in Cheltenham, South Australia due to natural causes, and was buried in Cheltenham Cemetery.
