Corporal Maurice Edward Wall (Service No:27862) enlisted in the RAAF on 8 October 1940 at No 5 Recruiting Centre Adelaide as an Aircraftman I - mustered as Trainee Mechanic, re mustered as Flight Mechanic and then as Fitter. Leading Aircraftman Wall was attached to 54 Squadron Port Pirie and 1 Aircraft Depot Laverton. Promoted to Corporal, he served in New Guinea - Tadli and Port Moresby - with 40 Squadron and No 12 Repair and Salvage Unit (RSU) from 8 February 1945 to 12 December 1945. Corporal Wall was attached to 40 Squadron at Discharge on 7 January 1946.

The eldest of six children, Maurice was born at Swan Reach, South Australia in 1913 to Edward (Ted) Wall (b1880 in Mallala, South Australia) and Clara May Rowe (b1887 in Germantown, South Australia). Ted worked as a Mail Contractor at Booborowie before he and Clara married in 1909 in Bakara. The couple settled at Netherleigh via Swan Reach, where they raised their family and Ted was a Farmer. In the 1930s they moved to Mannum, where Ted worked as a Labourer.

Maurice worked as a Farm Labourer at Barraba via Balaklave before working at Arthuron Garage on the Yorke Peninsula as a Mechanic in 1938. When he enlisted in the RAAF in 1940, he was working as a Mechanic in Nidlottie. Following his Discharge in 1946, Maurice settled in Gawler, where he was working as a Mechanic in 1949 when he married Mercia Viola Beryl Thomas (b1915 in Glenelg, South Australia) - Mercia served in the WAAAF (Aircraftwoman; Service No107460) in WWII. Maurice and Mercia settled in Adelaide, where they raised their family and Maurice worked as a Mechanic and later as a Gardener. Mercia died in 1970 and Maurice in 1982.
