Mentioned in despatches WWI - "This man has been with the unit as a stretcher bearer continously from February 25th, 1918 until the cessation of hostilities.  He first joined the unit on 24.2.1916, and since then has not missed an action in the line.  He did excellent work at VILLERS-BRETONNEUX in April and again at PERONNE in August-September. 

His courage and fine example to this companions are worthy of special recognition."
