713 Lance Corporal Donald H Brooke who left Australia with the Original 10th battalion, and was wounded in the landing and invailided home, and returned again to the front in April 1916, was taken a prisioner by the Germans at the Battle of Pozieres. His parents recieved a letter from him at Fredricksfeld Rheinland, where he is a member of a working party, having been sent there from Dulmer at the end of 1916. He stated that he was well and is recieving home and friend's letters and parcels, which are very welcome. The working hours at the camp are long, from 6am until 6 pm, with two half hours for coffee at 8:30 and 3:30and a dinner hour.He enclosed a photo of himself, taken in the German Prisoner's navy uniform.
