Stanley Clyde Hamilton Pearce Hooper was born on January 22, 1898, in St. Henrys, Saint Peters, South Australia. He was the son of Joseph and Mary Ann Hooper and grew up  with nine siblings. 

Before enlisting in the army, Stanley worked as a gas fitter in Adelaide, South Australia. At only 18 years and 3 months old, Stanley made the decision to leave his job, and family to enlist and join his brother, Melville, who was already fighting.

On August 7th, 1916, Stanley officially enlisted in Adelaide. With his English heritage and Church of England background, he was a perfect fit for the Australian army. Standing at a height of 5 foot 6 and ¾, he was considered tall for the time. Stanley joined the 43rd Infantry Battalion Unit - 7th Reinforcement as a Private. After his enlistment, Stanley trained in Albany to prepare for the hardships of war. Once his training was complete, he embarked from Albany on board the HMAT A30 Borda on June 23rd, 1917, bound for Gallipoli.

Stanley finally returned to Australia on June 10th, 1919. Stanley later reenlisted in 1939 to fight in WW2.

Stanley Clyde Hamilton Pearce Hooper passed away on January 22nd, 1963, in Adelaide, South Australia, at the age of 64 from old age. He was buried at Centennial Park Cemetery, his final resting place. Stanley's lis commemorated on the Norwood Primary School honor board, where he and his brother Melville are remembered for their service and sacrifice during World War 1.
