Biography contributed by Pam Hamilton
Audit of service conducted by Chief Clerk (Captain) Base Records Victoria Barracks. In order to identify service of member in that he deployed to Suez with the 2nd Reinforcement's 7th Battalion on or about 2nd February 1915.
Base Records confirmed that Private Harold Mulder did deploy to Suez and was tasked to return on HT Ulysses as Guard on duty to Melbourne.
It was confirmed that the member was reallocated to 6th reinforcement's 5th Battalion and deployed to the MEF and was taken on strength of the Battalion at Gallipoli on or around August 1915. Where he served for a period of of 1month
Private Mulder was evacuated with Enteric Fever to Mudros / Malta/ Egypt. Where on discharge from Hospital was allocated to the 46th Battalion as a reinforcement.
Furthermore it was identified that the member had suffered from the side effects of Enteric Fever through out his service in particular periods in 1916 and 1917.
Having enlisted in 1914, Base Records identified that the member was eligible for 1914 Leave ( RTA) however was not offered the entitlement due to the following:
1. Misidentification of Service Number
2. Administrative discrepancies involved in service with the 7th and 5th Battalions (detached duty and short service on ANzac
3. Charged with 60 days Field Punishment No2 whilst serving in France with the 46th Battalion in September of 1918.
Private Mulder was RTA in June 1919.
