Charles Blake.

Charles Blake. Sergeant, No. 23A, 31st Battalion. Born at Blenheim, Laidley, 8th July, 1890. and educated at Laidley. The son of Robert John Blake and Isabella Blake, of Laidley. On the 24th September, 1919, he married Annie Grace Mead, daughter of William Francis and Rose Mead, of Blenheim, Laidley. Prior to enlisting he was employed on Wyman�s Estate, Laidley. Enlisted 14th December, 1915, and embarked for England 13th May, 1916. Left for France in August, 1916 was wounded at Passchendale (slightly), and second time at Dernacourt on Somme (severely). Evacuated to London Military Hospital, and was on furlough when the Armistice was signed. Returned to Australia per S.S. "Khyber arriving May, 1919.
