Died of Illness

SX1330 Driver E. F. J. Jones, of Renmark, who died of Malaria in New Guinea on January 24 was 31.
He enlisted in Renmark and left for overseas in October 1941. He was in Tobruk for six weeks, and went to Syria with the 9th. Division. At the battle of El Alamein
he carried ammunition to the front line troops and had many narrow escapes. Returning to Australia he was later posted to New Guinea where he was attached
to the head quarters staff as a driver. His wife lives in Adelaide; there are no children. His brother Morris is in the AIF.
Cecil was in the garrison troops in Australia but has been discharged, George, another brother. lives in Renmark. Before joining the army the driver was employed on Ned's Corner and Berribee stations. His mother Mrs. McDonald, resides in Renmark.
