Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

Son of Mr. and Mrs. William Frederick Addinsall, of Noogee, Victoria, Australia.

Sgt. Airgunner G. W. Addinsall.
Offical news has been received by the relatives of Sgt. Gunner Addinsall that he was killed in air operations over Germany. The International Red Cross have forwarded a  photograph of his grave in Germany. This fine young man was 21 years of age and was reported missing some months ago. Prior to his enlistment, he worked with his father  Mr.  W. F. Addinsall on contract work. His mother died 12 years ago and he lived with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bautovich, who have recently left Timboon to take up residence in  Warrnambool.

He was one of the most popuular young men in the district, highly respected by everyone and showed brilliant ability by topping his classes during his training for the air crew.  Whilst in Wales he wrote very interesting and enthusiastic letters home.

He was one of a crew of a Lancaster bomber and in that crew there was a Welshman, a Scotchman, a Canadian and himself (an Australian). They had many a controversy as to the best country, but he maintained he came from the best country. Sgt. Gunner Addinsall's father is on essential work in New Guinea at present. His sister, Betty, is a member of  the W.A.A.F.'s; a younger brother (Ray) has joined the Air Cadets; while the youngest brother, Neil, is still going to school. Everyone will regret the passing of such a fine type of  manhood, and their sympathies will go out to the relatives in their bereavement. A ceremony will be held at the Shire Hall, Cobden, on Wednesday, May 10, at p.m.
