MAINLY ABOUT PEOPLE
Word has been received that Clarence Robert Avery, of Blakehurst, and formerly of Fairfield West, was killed in action on the H.M.A.S. Australia on January 6. He was a nephew-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. O. Chapman, of Fairfield. His mother lives at Manly. A brother of Clarence (George) is missing from H.M.A.S. Sydney. The Biz, 8 February 1945. (nla.gov.au)

NEWS IN BRIEF
Clarence Robert Avery, of Hatfield St., Blakehurst, was killed in action on January 6, while serving on H.M.A.S. Australia. He was 25 years of age, and is survived by his wife. He was a son of Mrs. Florence Avery and the late Mr. S. H. Avery. A brother is missing from H.M.A.S. Sydney, and another, Harold, is serving with the A.I.F. The Propeller, 8 February 1945.
