Son of Albert James and Henrietta Mary Garlick of Ewlyamartup, WA. Brother of Carl Eric Garlick who died of wounds on 20 December 1916 while serving with the 8th  Battalion and was buried in the Heilly Station Cemetery, Mericourt. Plor V1, Row F, Grave 21 and brother of Alfred James Garlick of Kurrawang, WA
