Flying Officer Upward 402896 in Kittyhawk FL306 of 3SQN was killed when his aircraft collided with a Messerschmitt 109 and they spun in from 1500 feet; neither pilot baled out with the aircraft coming down approximately 13 miles from Magrun in Libya  - his body was not recovered and he is commemorated on the Alamein Memorial, Egypt
