Son of Alexander Vallance and Mary Vallance of Strathhaven, Teralba, NSW. Brother of David Vallance who returned to Australia on 19 June 1919 having served with the 2nd Divisional Ammunition Column.

Commenced return to Australia on 19 June 1919 aboard HT Euripidies disembarking on 8 August 1919
