16 Aug 1917:	Honoured Military Medal, Sergeant Lindsay Harold THOMPSON 'At PLOEGSTEERT from 31-5-17 to 2-6-17, this N.C.O. was deployed with his Battery on wire cutting. The enemy shelled the position heavily and continuously, but this N.C.O., by his example and disregard for personal safety, set a fine example to his comrades. I consider that it was largely owing to his efforts that the guns of the Battery were kept in action, and that their tasks were so effectively carried out. Sergt. On 19 March 1943 Thompson was killed when the aircraft he was piloting colided with another plane during a training exercise in Southern New South Wales.
