Charles, born in Scotland in 1898 was the third of six children of Charles Park White Snr (born 1870 in Perthshire, Scotland) and Janet Tinto Reid (born 1870 in Lanarkshire, Scotland). Charles Snr was a Spirit Salesman, and he and his family emigrated to Queesnland, Australia in 1911 where they settled in Brisbane.

Charles Jnr, giving his age as 18 years and 7 months, was working as a Sawyer when he enlisted in the AIF in 1915. He was Wounded in Action in France in 1918 and was Discharged in 1919.

Charles returned to Brisbane, QLD and worked as a Swyer. He married May Florence Mockton in 1921 in Brisbane, and in 1939 enlisted in the ACMF 1st Australian Garrison Battalion, serving as a Lieutenant (Service No: Q186979) until his Discharge in 1946.

Continued to live in Brisbane, working as a Clerk, Storeman and a Labourer until he retired to Wynnum, QLD where he died in 1978
