From the book Fallen Saints
Malcolm Ernest Nash of Parkside South Australia was born at Woolongong New South Wales in 1890. He attended St Peter's College for only the first two terms of 1911 and the Headmaster, Canon Girdlestone, recoded the reason for his brief attendance.
...came here for a short time before studying for holy orders.[i]
Immediately prior to enlisting in Adelaide on 22 May 1916 Malcolm was employed as a clerk and living at Parkside with his wife.
While in transit at B Company 2nd Depot Battalion, he attended the School of Musketry at Cheltenham in August and then throughout September attended NCO School. After successfully completing the course, he was appointed to the rank of provisional Sergeant and transferred across to A Company, Infantry Base Depot at the Mitcham Camp where in December his rank was confirmed.
On 1 July 1917, Sergeant Malcolm Ernest Nash by then in D Company became seriously ill and after being sent home to rest, died from Peritonitis on 24 July 1917; he was 27 years of age.
