Raymond Walter CHANNON was born in Edmonton, England in 1923 - he had stated he was born in 1920 & tried to join the Navy and then the Army and was rejected because he was underage & had no parents permission
His parents were Walter CHANNON & Rosetta Charlotte ROWLAND who married in Edmonton, UK in 1922 -
He was brought out to Australia under the Youth Migration Scheme & arrived in Sydney on the ship Oronsay in 1939 - hie parents & sister arrived in 1948
He married Marie Eunice COGGINS in Sydney in 1944
He enlisted in Paddington, Sydney on 28th May 1940 and was discharged from the Army on 7th March, 1945 - his last unit was listed as 101 General Transport Company
Raymond died in Sydney in 1986
