5 Apr 1918: Honoured Military Medal, Dernancourt/Ancre, For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On the 5th April 1918 during the attack on our line opposite DERNANCOURT, this Gunner displayed great courage, energy and coolness in restoring and maintaining communication to his Battery in spite of the heavy shell fire under which he had to work. Though constantly exposed to heavy shell fire, the conduct and service of Gunner WATTS throughout the action was excellent and invaluable to his Battery
