Son of Thomas Bartholomew O'Connor and Hannah O'Connor nee Thomas of Milchester Road, Charters Towers, QLD.

Brother of Victor David O'Connor who died of wounds received while servicng with the 25th Battalion  on 2 September 1918 and is buried in Peronne Communal Cemetery. Plot 111, Row C, Grave 26; William Henry O'Connor who died of wounds received while serving with the 25th Battalion on 30 July 1916 and is buried in the Puchevillers British Cemetery. Plot 11, Row C, Grave 36

Next of kin given as a friend Louise Clysdale of Tichbourne Street, Liverpool, England later changed to his mother 

Commenced return to Australia on 21 December 1918 aboard HT Marmari disembarking on 4  February 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel to Brisbane
