'RICHARDS, Samuel Alexander. Captain, 15th Battn. Born in Sydney 1886 and educated at Rockhampton and Brisbane Grammar Schools, Sydney and Pennsylvania Universities. Degrees B.D.S. Sydney., D.D.S. Penn. The son of late Samuel Jabez and Jessie Russell Richards, of Narrabeen, N.S.W. Married on 22nd September Madge Anetta, daughter of Frederick Young and Margaret Isabella Fox, of Carfax Station, Clermont, Queensland. From C.Q.L.H. Regt. was appointed Lieut. A.I.F., and sailed per "Beltana" 13th May, 1916, as second in command of A Sqn. 14th L. Horse. In England was transferred to Queensland Infantry Battns. Served with 3rd Trg. Battn., and joined 9th Battn. on 17th March, 1917. Was transferred to 15th Battn. 19th July, 1917. Promoted Captain 22nd September, 1917. Was present at operations in France and Belgium 1917 and early 1918, as O.C. 15th Battn. Seconded for duty 12th Training Battn. as O/c from February to September, 1918. Sailed per "Orontes" for Australia 20th December, 1918, and arrived in Brisbane 14th February, 1919. 'DR'S R. AND S. A. RICHARDS.
Dr. Russell Richards and his mother, Mrs. S. J. Richards, are on a visit to Mount Morgan and are the guests of Mrs. J. Hill. Dr. Richards has recently returned from the front after spending over twelve months in the Royal Army Medical Corps. He was on the western front, in Egypt, and at Salonika. He is at present on the medical staff of the Long Shore Hospital, Sydney, and will return to Sydney at the end of the month. Mrs. Richards's other son, Dr. S. A.
